With Liberty and Justice FOR ALL...even Michael Vick!

Whatever happened to liberty and justice for all? I just don't understand why so many people are willing to deny Michael Vick the opportunity to play in the NFL again. This man has served his time, and paid his debt to society (literally, he lost a $135 million contract plus endorsements). I agree that what he did was despicable and he should have been punished. The bible says that we should not judge, and rather, that we should forgive. Does this only apply when it's convenient? How many among us haven't sinned? Maybe we think his sin was "greater" than our sins, but SIN is sin, no matter how small. I bet if any of us were singled out to have the last year of our life played out on a big screen, there would be at least one thing we were very ashamed of. This man has recognized his wrongs, apologized and is taking steps to prevent it from happening again. What would happen if we weren't given a chance to correct our missteps?

Maybe it's because he was an NFL player making lots of money, and people think he doesn't "deserve" to make millions anymore? Should a person be denied the opportunity to work in their field after they have paid their debts to society, especially if their crime had nothing to do with their field? It would be different if he were a child molester trying to go back to a job as a teacher, or someone who wrote bad checks trying to go back to a job as a banker. Why was it okay for him to work a $12/hr construction job, but not to do the job he is trained for and is good at? The hypocrisy is rampant. We have baseball players doing steroids that affect their performance that still get to play. Bank executives who have used insider information to pilfer millions of dollars from everyday working Americans, yet they still keep their jobs and get their bonuses. Governors and senators who cavort around the world with mistresses, yet they are still in positions of power. There are countless stories about murderers and drunk drivers who have killed PEOPLE and they serve a minimal amount of time and go back to their regular life. I just don't understand all the hate....after all, isn't Martha Stewart still running her empire? I'm just saying. This man deserves a chance to live his life and make a living doing what he does best.

  1. Amen!!! I agree wholeheartedly. Vick has paid his debt to society. It is not up to anyone else to judge him or to determine that he should suffer any more than he has. There was a crime and a harsh punishment. Let the man be. Everyone deserves to make a living. Oooh, I could go on and on.
